Summary: | (Uniform indicates rank of brigadier general). Member of the Kentucky state militia before the war. Appointed colonel of the 6th Kentucky Infantry in November 1861. Promoted to brigadier general in September 1863. Major campaigns and battles include Shiloh, Stones River, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, the Atlanta campaign, and the Carolinas.
