Pamphlet: contains songs, poems, drawings, transcribed oral interviews, and recitations performed March 24, 1995 by local elementary school students and Larry Long at Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama. The pamphlet also lists the names of the students and teachers of participating students. In the oral histories, elders in the community related aspects of their childhood and life in Wadley and shared lessons and words of encouragement with the students. The students, with the help of Larry Long, wrote folk songs about these experiences. PACERS (Program for the Academic and Cultural Enhancement of Rural Schools) seeks to highlight the merit of rural schools and organizations. |
