The upper main portion of the painting shows a color perspective view from the house's balcony with a low brick wall and potted plants overlooking the garden with its brick walls, window openings, grass lawn, arbor with climbing plants, terrace, flower and plant beds, trees, benches, a fountain, and a pool. On the lower left, there is a cross-section side view of the house including the balcony and porch and the garden with its window openings in the walls. To the right of that, there is a combined floor and garden plan showing the house, the terrace, and the layout of the flower beds, trees, benches, fountain, and pool. On the lower right, there is another black and white view of the garden, this time facing toward the house that shows the garden with its flower and plant beds, trees, fountain, and pool, the terrace, and the house with its columned porch and balcony with low brick wall. There are two labels in the upper right corner that read: "School of Architecture Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original number 113, 'Backyard Garden', 1940, Brendon A. Bond" and "113." In the lower right corner there is an artist's information block which reads: "Brendon A. Bond, Ala. Poly. Inst., Class 'A', Sketch III, Back Yard Garden." Above the block are two blurred Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamps with a handwritten inscription "1/2 M" in red. The painting is in fair condition except for two large spots of discoloration in the lower right corner and is encapsulated. |
